Think of a waste baler as your go-to assistant for taming waste. The machine takes loose, bulky materials like cardboard or plastic and compresses them into compact, uniform bales. These bales are easy to store, transport, and recycle, helping you clear up space and simplify your waste handling.
There are different types of balers to suit various needs.
Vertical balers are perfect for businesses with limited floor space, such as retail stores or smaller warehouses.
Horizontal balers are a better fit for operations that generate larger volumes of waste and need faster, high-capacity processing.
The process is simple: load your waste, push a button, and let the baler do its job. Once the material is compacted, it’s secured with ties or straps, keeping everything organized and ready for transport or recycling.

Dear Mr. Markle,
I have been working in the Plant Operations of Hospitals for the past 20 years. During that time I have had the responsibility of maintaining various autoclaves for the treatment of biohazardous medical waste.
When I came to Doctors Medical Center a year and a half ago I found myself in charge of maintaining a Mark-Costello Co. autoclave that was nearly eight years old. After my past experience of trying to keep a high vacuum system with consistent problems in operation, I find maintaining the Mark-Costello gravity fed autoclave a pleasure, as there is seldom a malfunction. I attribute this to the fact they have kept the design simple with no need for highly technical maintenance and high dollar repair parts.
As a point of information, the Model we operate is a AS 512 equipped with a unique “pull out drawer” making it easy for the Housekeeping Staff to load. This unit has a capacity of approximately 750 lbs. per cycle.
We expect to keep our Mark-Costello autoclave in operation for another 8 years or longer !
Dear Mr. Markle:
San Ramon regional Medical Center has owned and operated a Model AS46 Mark-Costello Medical Waste Sterilizer for the past eight years. We are pleased with performance of this equipment and have had a fine working relationship with the Mark-Costello Company. The system continues to function well and allows our facility to avoid the liability and high cost of packaging and hauling untreated infectious waste.
We Anticipate several more years of operation from this waste treatment system

“We have been very pleased with the performance and the cost savings that the trash compactors from The Mark-Costello Company have provided to our school district.”
My name is David E. and I am responsible for a Mark Costello Co. Auto-Clave, at an inflight Kitchen out here in Kona Hawaii, that is overseen by the USDA / Custom and Borders, federal inspectors. (as you can imagine that is a challenge in its self).
The products that Mark Costello Co. is producing are of good quality. The auto – clave that I am responsible for works 24/7, with very few break downs. This is the only unit available in Kona, making daily operation is critical.
It is nice to know that when I call for tech support and parts, the courteous staff always responds promptly. Being out here in the middle of the pacific, that is crucial to our operation.
I would highly recommend Mark Costello Co.
A waste baler is a machine designed to compress various types of waste materials, such as cardboard, plastic, and paper, into compact bales. The baler uses hydraulic pressure to reduce the volume of waste, making it easier to handle, store, and transport. The bales are held together with wire or plastic ties, making them more manageable for recycling or disposal.
Waste balers are versatile and can process a wide range of materials, including cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, cans, and textiles. Different baler models are designed to handle specific types of waste, allowing businesses to efficiently recycle materials and reduce landfill waste.
Investing in a waste baler helps businesses reduce waste disposal costs, improve recycling efficiency, and save valuable storage space. By compressing waste into bales, companies can streamline waste management, promote sustainability, and potentially generate revenue through the sale of recyclable materials.
The key benefits of using a waste baler include improved waste management, increased recycling rates, reduced transportation and landfill fees, and a cleaner, more organized workspace. Waste balers also contribute to environmental sustainability by encouraging businesses to recycle more effectively.
To choose the right waste baler, consider the type and volume of waste your business generates, the available space, and your budget. Smaller businesses may benefit from vertical balers, while larger operations with higher waste volumes may require horizontal balers. It’s also important to evaluate features like capacity, ease of use, and energy efficiency.
Regular maintenance is essential to keep a waste baler running efficiently. This includes inspecting the hydraulic system, cleaning the machine, lubricating moving parts, and checking the baler’s safety features. It’s also important to monitor the wear and tear on the baling wires or plastic ties and replace them as needed to ensure the baler operates optimally.
