Here's How It Works:
Multiple, specially designed, carts of hospital red bag waste are rolled into an autoclave and sterilized for the appropriate time period. The hospital staff checks samples for complete bacterial destruction.
After sterilization the carts are rolled to a cart tipper that feeds a specially designed Mark-Costello Primary Shredder to render the waste "unrecognizable."
The system may also incorporate a Mark-Costello Sharps Shredder to destroy "sharps" such as needles, glass vials, IV tubes, and containers. Sharps, still in their plastic disposal containers, are dumped via the cart tipper into the primary shredder, and then diverted to a Mark-Costello Sharps Shredder for further size reduction of the needles, scalpels and other sharps. Upon completion of the size reduction process, the sharps waste is then transferred by conveyor to the roll-off compactor.
Once shredded, the waste is transferred by conveyor to a roll-off self-contained compactor for disposal in a local landfill.

The Sharps Shredder is specially designed to handle discarded needles, glass viles, IV stems and other sharps.

A conveyor feeds the sterilized and shredded red bag waste into a Mark-Costello self-contained compactor for transportation to a local landfill. This application also features a tipper for other hospital trash.
